ALLENTOWN, PA., December 4, 2017 – Sustainable Energy Fund (SEF) will host a Kickoff Event to mark the start of Lehigh County Humane Society’s energy makeover on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Lehigh County Humane Society. The event will bring together contractors and volunteers, including members of the community and local organizations, to participate in the makeover.
This makeover was awarded to Lehigh County Humane Society by SEF after they became one of two winners of the Nonprofit Energy Makeover Contest, a program which seeks to upgrade deserving nonprofit buildings to be more energy efficient at no cost to the winning organizations. The goal of this program is to promote energy efficiency and assist energy users in overcoming educational and financial barriers to a sustainable energy future.
“This makeover is Lehigh County Humane Society’s first step in starting our capital campaign to create a new dog kennel area,” said Mary Shafer, Executive Director of Lehigh County Humane Society. “The steps we take today will help us create a more cost-effective, comfortable and energy efficient environment. We are grateful for this opportunity and eager to get started.”
The kickoff event will take place at the Lehigh County Humane Society Shelter on Dixon Street in Allentown at 10:00 AM. This kickoff will include remarks from Sustainable Energy Fund, Lehigh County Humane Society and other invited guests. This will be immediately followed by the start of the makeover, which will involve participation from contractors, Sustainable Energy Fund staff, and a group of skilled and unskilled volunteers looking to dedicate their time to a worthy organization. The group will begin efficiency updates in the building, as well as engage in some beautification and facility updates in and around the organization’s facilities.
“We are excited to be working with Lehigh County Humane Society for our next makeover,” says John Costlow, President and CEO of Sustainable Energy Fund. “This organization does so much for the community and we are excited to help them on their path to greater energy efficiency.“
