SCHNECKSVILLE, PA., June 29, 2022 – Sustainable Energy Fund announced the winners of the Middle and High School Science Fair, held at their Net-Zero Energy Building in Schnecksville, PA. Showcasing the projects in the Onori Education Classroom within the building, students set up their projects at 10 a.m. and thoroughly explained their research to about twenty attendees.
The projects were submitted by middle and high school students who have a passion for the sustainable energy industry. These students competed for cash prizes of up to $1,250. Project topics were related to energy efficiency, energy conservation, and renewable energy resources. The judges for the science fair this year included Vera Cole of Penn State University and MAREA, and Brent Beck, Technical Specialist for the Sustainable Energy Fund. This year’s science fair winners are:
Middle School
1st place: Arman Kazi, Sourcing Sustainable Energy to Power Drones for Rescue Missions
2nd place: Luke Hasker, Chameleon Roof Tiles
3rd place: Joi McBride, Window Glass Comparison
High School
1st place: Deepti Rao, Effects of Turbine Design on Voltage Produced
“The projects this year were highly advanced and extremely inventive, making our judges’ jobs very difficult,” said John Costlow, president, and CEO of Sustainable Energy Fund. “The students clearly researched their topics and completed experiments to prove their hypothesis. The Sustainable Energy Fund will continue to host the science fair and we look forward to seeing future sustainable energy projects from middle and high school students.”
