SCHNECKSVILLE, PA., September 19, 2025 — On September 18, 2025, a group of volunteers came together for United Way’s Day of Caring to support Family Promise of Carbon County. Volunteers from PPL joined members of the Sustainable Energy Fund (SEF) team to spend the day organizing and improving the clothing distribution area at Family Promise. Family Promise is this year’s Nonprofit Energy Makeover Contest winner. The day of organizing has helped prepare the site for exciting energy upgrades.
The team sorted and reorganized donated clothing and household goods to create a more accessible and welcoming space for families in need. Thanks to support from VFW Post #8008 and Anthracite Little League, a new clothing rack was built, adding valuable space for items to be neatly hung and displayed. The project began at 9:00 AM and wrapped up around 3:00 PM, with United Way providing lunch to fuel the hard work.
Family Promise of Carbon County is a public charity dedicated to helping families experiencing homelessness and low-income families achieve sustainable independence. By providing temporary shelter, meals, and support services, Family Promise ensures that families in transition can focus on rebuilding their lives. When families move out of the shelter, they can select clothing, furniture, and household items at no cost, easing the burden as they establish a new home.
Thanks to the efforts of volunteers, the newly organized clothing area will make it easier for families to find what they need as they take steps toward stability and independence.
