» Read MoreThe Nonprofit Energy Makeover is a contest fueled by the Sustainable Energy Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, to upgrade a nonprofit building to be more energy efficient at no cost to the winning organization. This program gives a nonprofit the chance to save on their utility bills by implementing the upgrades included in the FREE energy makeover and use those savings toward their mission.

Makeover Winner is chosen by a panel of judges.
The winning nonprofit organization, chosen for its inefficient building and for the good it does for the community, will produce dramatic energy savings. The money saved from high electric bills can be directed towards furthering the nonprofit’s mission. The main goal of the Makeover Contest is to promote energy efficiency and assist energy users in overcoming educational and financial barriers to a sustainable energy future.
TO APPLY, ORGANIZATION MUST MEET THESE QUALIFICATIONS:
501c3 status, own building, and be located in the 29-county PPL Electric Service region.

LED Lighting Retrofit
- Currently fluorescent lighting – LEDs in all rooms, areas, and programs
- Occupancy sensors added to common areas
- Will reduce O&M costs and offer the latest in LED technology
- Estimated Annual Savings: $3,200
Weatherization Measures
- Window AC Units
- Windows and Doors
- Electrical Sockets
- A drafty vent Hospitality Center
Resident Education
- LED light bulbs and weatherization products for individual rooms

Minisplit Heat Pumps – Mollard Hospitality Center
- Will replace five low-efficiency AC units, offset electric resistance heat (SEER 18.9), and provide greater comfort to over 150 guests per day
- Estimated Annual Savings: $1,300
Low-flow water fixtures for sinks and showers
- Will help conserve water and reduce the need for electric water heating
- Estimated Annual Savings: $3,600
Window Heat Pump Units – Transitional Housing Program
- Will replace six low-efficiency AC units and offset electric resistance heat above 40°F
- Estimated Annual Savings: $3,950
