SUMMARY:Responding to COVID-19 with Energy Recovery Ventilation
DESCRIPTION:Responding to COVID-19 with Energy Recovery Ventilation\nIndoor
Air Quality (IAQ) has been a long overlooked problem in the North America
n construction industry. But now the COVID-19 pandemic has put IAQ front a
nd center in public conversation. (If you've read the news\, it's possible
you could recite how many air changes per hour occur via the ventilation
system on a commercial aircraft!) In this presentation we'll review why th
e coronavirus is an air quality issue. We'll consider exactly what's meant
by the word "ventilation" and why it's such a useful tool in addressing C
OVID-19 and other indoor air pollutants. Finally we'll explore the magic o
f energy recovery ventilation and discuss best practices to optimize the h
ealth impact of installed systems.\n\nPresenter: Chris Smith\n\nChris Smit
h is Business Development Manager for Zehnder America\, a high-performance
residential ventilation division of the Swiss-based Zehnder Group. He has
spent almost two decades in the residential design/build industry as a de
signer and licensed construction supervisor. He is an NAHB Certified Green
Professional and a Certified Passive House Tradesperson. He has designed
custom\, balanced ventilation systems for hundreds of projects and has per
sonally installed many of them. Chris's professional passion is to help im
prove lives by drawing attention to best practices in ventilation across t

SUMMARY:Renewable Fuel Oil - Ensyn Presentation
DESCRIPTION:As institutions continue to strive to reduce their carbon footp
rint\, facility heating demands have been a significant obstacle towards a
chieving desired reductions. Renewable fuel oil (RFO)\, a renewably source
d alternative to traditional fuel oil\, holds the potential to address the
se emissions by utilizing regionally-sourced waste wood products to provid
e carbon-neutral solutions for central heating plants. With appreciable pa
yback periods and financial incentives both in place and on the horizon\,
institutions and other large facilities have been able to utilize renewabl
e fuel oil to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and improve their bott
om line.\n\nPlease consider joining us to learn more about renewable fuel
oil and discuss how PA colleges and universities can make significant stri
des in reducing their heating load carbon footprint by switching to renewa
ble fuel sources. This will be the second meeting of Pennsylvania Colleges
and Universities. During the session\, a potential supplier\, Ensyn\, wil
l discuss the process of creating RFO and the technical requirements to st
ore and utilize RFO.\n\nCampus Facility Operators and sustainability profe
ssionals are invited to attend. These sessions are being facilitated by th
e Sustainable Energy Fund.\n\nRegistration for this event has closed.

\, fixed-rate financing funded by private capital providers. C-PACE is rel
atively new in PA\, though it has been around for more than ten years in o
ther states. Approximately 32 states have enacted C-PACE legislation\, ena
bling more than $1 billion in private financing of 2\,000+ projects.\n\nMo
rtgage lenders are an integral part of C-PACE as all C-PACE financings mus
t have lender consent. Furthermore\, C-PACE projects generally increase pr
operties’ collateral value and reduce building operating costs. This pre

SUMMARY:C-PACE Stakeholder Meetings Announced
DESCRIPTION:\n\nThe Sustainable Energy Fund (SEF) and Philadelphia Energy A

CE Expansion legislation passing in Pennsylvania.\n\nThe Pennsylvania Hous
e and Senate have passed legislation to expand eligibility for C-PACE proj
ects. Both the House bill (HR 1760) and Senate bill (SB 635) have made it
through their respective chambers. One chamber will need to approve the ot
her’s bill before it can be sent to Governor Wolf for signature. We do n
ot know when this will happen.\n\nSEF and PEA need to modify the C-PACE Pr
ogram Guidelines in order to implement the expansion legislation that incl
udes a newly-eligible building type (multifamily) and measures (Indoor Air
Quality (IAQ) and Resiliency). In anticipation of bill passage\, we are s
cheduling stakeholder engagement meetings on the newly eligible measures.
We are starting with IAQ and Resiliency because\, unlike multifamily\, the
y will require developing new technical guidelines. Once the legislation i
s passed\, we will schedule the multifamily stakeholder meeting.\n\nAll me
etings will be held via Zoom.\n\nYou are invited to attend any or all of t
he meetings. We only ask that you register at least 24 hours in advance. T
hat way we can be prepared for the number of people attending.\nC-PACE Sta

SUMMARY:C-PACE Stakeholder Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The Sustainable Energy Fund (SEF) and Philadelphia Energy Autho
rity (PEA) are organizing stakeholder meetings in anticipation of C-PACE E
xpansion legislation passing in Pennsylvania.\n\nThe Pennsylvania House an
d Senate have passed legislation to expand eligibility for C-PACE projects
. Both the House bill (HR 1760) and Senate bill (SB 635) have made it thro
ugh their respective chambers. One chamber will need to approve the other
’s bill before it can be sent to Governor Wolf for signature. We do not
know when this will happen.\n\nSEF and PEA need to modify the C-PACE Progr
am Guidelines in order to implement the expansion legislation that include
s a newly-eligible building type (multifamily) and measures (Indoor Air Qu
ality (IAQ) and Resiliency). In anticipation of bill passage\, we are sche
duling stakeholder engagement meetings on the newly eligible measures. We
are starting with IAQ and Resiliency because\, unlike multifamily\, they w
ill require developing new technical guidelines. Once the legislation is p
assed\, we will schedule the multifamily stakeholder meeting.\n\nAll meeti
ngs will be held via Zoom.\n\nYou are invited to attend any or all of the
meetings. We only ask that you register at least 24 hours in advance. That
way we can be prepared for the number of people attending.\nC-PACE STAKEH
 OLDER MEETINGS\nResiliency: Friday\, February 25th\, 1:00-3:00 PM EST. C
lick here to register. You can register for this meeting and the IAQ meeti
ng simultaneously if you plan to attend both.\n\nMultifamily: To be sched
uled. Please check back here for updates on meeting dates and times. You
may also email cpace@philaenergy.org and ask to receive an email when new
meetings are scheduled.\nADDITIONAL BACKGROUND ON MEETINGS\nThe purpose o
f the C-PACE expansion stakeholder engagement meetings is to gather input
from subject matter experts\, C-PACE capital providers\, consumer advocate
s\, and other interested parties in a way that everyone has an opportunity
for their viewpoint to be expressed and heard so that revised C-PACE Prog
ram Guidelines can be developed which fulfill the intention of the state s
tatute to allow for investments in clean energy\, healthy indoor environme
nts\, and resiliency that benefit the public good.\n\nDefinitions from the
legislation:\n\nIndoor air quality project: A project that improves the r
ated performance in indoor air quality by reducing exposure to indoor airb
 orne contaminants.\n\nResiliency improvement: Any fixture\, product\, syst
 em\, equipment\, device\, material\, or interacting group thereof intended
to increase resiliency or improve the durability of real property needed
to withstand natural disasters\, including\, but not limited to\, flood mi
 tigation\, wind resistance\, energy storage\, and microgrids\, as defined
 by a local government.
